Erunt is a registry backup utility for Windows XP machines. The writer of this application realized that Windows XP and the previous NT versions didn't have a registry backup tool that was good enough to use. The application carries out only one task: it creates backups of the registry of your computer. Without the registry, your computer will most likely fail to boot, so it is a good and wise idea to keep backups of the registry, even if you are not planning to modify it. In previous operating systems, backing up the registry was as easy as copying several files into other folders. But, now, Windows XP is constantly reading the registry so it becomes hard to copy it when the files are in use. ERUNT somehow bypasses that restriction and is able to copy the files that make up the registry into other folders, which you can also specify. The good thing about this registry tool is that it also comes with a command-line version, which you can use under D.O.S when your Windows XP won't boot. After all, what's good about having a registry restoration tool that you can only run on Windows?
